Two employees robbed at gunpoint at LuLu’s Express Car Wash in Aiken

February 13, 2019 GMT

Two employees were the victims of an armed robbery at LuLu’s Express Car Wash on East Pine Log Road early Tuesday morning.

Lt. Jennifer Hayes, a spokesperson for the Aiken Department of Public Safety, said she received notification about the incident from dispatch a little after 7:30 a.m.

“They (the employees) were opening up the kiosk, where you pay to get your car washed, to get the money out,” she said. “What they believe to be a white male, who was dressed in all black and had on a mask, robbed them at gunpoint and took the money.”

The suspect then fled the scene and headed toward the Robinwood Drive area.

Public Safety officers set up a perimeter, and the Bloodhound Tracking Team was called in to conduct a search.

Hayes said three schools – Millbrook Elementary, Kennedy Middle and South Aiken High – were placed on soft lockdown.

Hayes reported around 9:15 a.m. the search had ended and the suspect hadn’t been found.

As of late Tuesday afternoon, the suspect was still at large.
