Willow Canyon High School students awarded AIPA Press Awards

The following Willow Canyon High School students earned Arizona Interscholastic Press Association (AIPA) awards for the 20152016 school year:

• Cameron Klein won a media award for Excellence in Animation.

• Arianna Baldwin, Devin Mora, Lexi White, and Cameron Klein won Honorable Mention in Short Film Documentary.

• Chandler Derby, Kim Wong, and Karla Habbershaw won a yearbook award for Superior for Theme Development.

• Jessica Merritt won Honorable Mention in Feature Writing.

• Karla Habbershaw won an award for Superior in Theme Photography.

• Chaise Bonnell won Honorable Mention in Academics Spread Design, Academy Photography and Superior in Clubs Photography.

• Chandler Derby won Excellence in Academics Spread Design.

The yearbook staff received Honorable Mention overall.

Teacher and yearbook advisor, Amy McTague, was awarded the Forest R. Martin award for the 2015-16 school year. Forest R. Martin Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism is awarded to experienced advisors.

The Arizona Interscholastic Press Association supports middle school and high school journalism, newspaper, yearbook, web, broadcast, and literary magazine programs across the state.
