Jones’ doping violation shocks MMA world
Interim UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones, one of the top names in the sport, rocked the MMA world late Wednesday when he was removed from Saturday’s title-unification bout in Las Vegas against Daniel Cormier following a potential doping violation.
Jones tested positive for a banned substance in an out-of-competition sample taken June 16 by the United States Anti-Doping Agency.
Thursday, Jones issued an apology to Cormier and denied any wrongdoing. A heavyweight fight between Brock Lesnar and Mark Hunt will headline the pay-per-view card at T-Mobile Arena.
