Two Marshall athletes facing misdemeanor charges
HUNTINGTON — Two Marshall University athletes are facing misdemeanor criminal charges after Huntington police responded Sunday to a disturbance along 4th Avenue in Huntington.
Marshall football offensive lineman Nathaniel Charles Devers, 22, and soccer player Cory Joseph Shimensky, 21, are among four people who were arrested at 2:51 a.m. Sunday in the 1300 block of 4th Avenue in Huntington, according to arrest records from the Huntington Police Department.
Devers, Cory Shimensky, Evan Joseph Shimensky, 25, and Stephen Joseph Shimensky, 56, were each charged with public intoxication, obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct. Devers was also charged with battery on an officer.
All charges are misdemeanor offenses.
Marshall University announced Sunday that Devers had been suspended from the team.
The Herald-Dispatch reported in September that the two Marshall athletes are roommates.
