Tennessee woman accused of lying about jailer sex assault
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) — A Tennessee woman is accused of lying about being sexually assaulted by a Sullivan County jailer last year.
News outlets report 30-year-old Shauna Jones was arrested Wednesday and charged with false reporting. Jones was jailed for a week in April 2018 on a charge of violating probation. The reason behind her probation is unclear.
A state Bureau of Investigation release says Jones later reported that she was assaulted while jailed and a subsequent investigation determined the assault didn’t happen. A county grand jury indicted Jones on a charge of false reporting last week.
Jones was booked Wednesday into the same county jail she was held at last year. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.
