Friendswood wins 22-5A softball title
Amani Adi and K.K. Esparza each drove in six runs, powering Friendswood to a 13-2 win over Galveston Ball and clinching an outright District 22-5A softball championship for the Lady Mustangs.
Friendswood used a six-run second inning to take control of the game. The Lady Mustangs added one run in the third inning, four in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Adi had three hits and Esparza two as part of a 13-hit attack by Friendswood (21-4, 13-0) which won its eighth straight game and for the 18th time in its last 19 starts.
Winning pitcher Chloe Riassetto pitched four innings and struck out six. Haven Franks pitched two innings and struck out two.
Lady Mustang shortstop Tricia Yarotsky also had two hits for Friendswood.
Earlier in the week, Friendswood defeated Galena Park, 13-0, as Franks struck out six in six innings and Riassetto drove in five runs.
Friendswood, Crosby, Santa Fe and Texas City will advance to the playoffs from District 22-5A.
