CYCLING Pronovost wins Tour De Greenwich
The 2018 Hospital for Special Surgery Tour De Greenwich XXV 20-mike Bike Race was held this past Sunday and Hunter Pronovost, a Connecticut resident, claimed top honors.
Pronovost won the 20-mile race in a time of 49 minutes, 39 seconds. He averaged 24.18 miles per hour en route to winning the challenging bike race.
Max Lippolis of Greenwich also finished with a time of 49:39 and was second overall in the event. Ted Horowitz (Haverhill, Mass.) clocked in at 50:35, as did Brian Hunt (Bronx, N.Y.), Josh Sollitto (Groton), Abraham Soler of Greenwich and Norwalk’s John Morales.
Alex Chaver of Stamford finished the race in 50:36, as did John Osgood (Stamford), Juan Diaz (Stamford), Keith Sherling (Ridgefield) and Blake Bentzen (Riverside).
Steve Balcerski of Greenwich, Marlon Valenzuela (Norwalk), Michael Yardis (Riverside) and Chris Gaulin (Riverside) each finished among the top 16 with a time of 50:37.
Douglas Crane (Norwalk) registered a time of 50:38 and was 17th overall, followed by Carlos Cordoba from Greenwich (50:39).
