The Latest: Texas Tech to face Nebraska in Hall of Fame
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Latest on the Hall of Fame Classic (all times local):
Jarrett Culver and Tariq Owens had 18 points apiece to lead four players in double-figures scoring, and Texas Tech rallied from a big first-half hole to beat Southern California 78-63 in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Classic on Monday night.
Davide Moretti and Matt Mooney each added 17 points for the Red Raiders (4-0), who advanced to Tuesday night’s championship game against former Big 12 foe Nebraska.
Kevin Porter Jr. had 15 points and Bennie Boatwright added 14 for the Trojans (2-2), who led 30-17 late in the first half before the Red Raiders got hot from the field in the second.
Texas Tech used a 14-2 run out of the locker room to take control, then put the game away with a parade to the foul line.
Isaac Copeland Jr. scored 23 points, Glynn Watson Jr. added 16 and Nebraska pulled away in the second half for an 85-62 victory over Missouri State on Monday night in the Hall of Fame Classic.
Isaiah Roby added 13 points for the Huskers (4-0), who returned to the Sprint Center for the first time since 2011, when they played in their final Big 12 Tournament.
Nebraska will play the Texas Tech-Southern California winner for the title Tuesday night.
Keandre Cook had 22 points and Kansas City native Jarred Dixon added 12 for the Bears (3-1), who trailed just 40-35 early in the second half before the Huskers pulled away.
Houston star Otis Birdsong, North Carolina standout Sam Perkins and Sidney Moncrief of Arkansas led the eight-member class inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame this year.
Southern California’s Paul Westphal, Morgan State star Marvin Webster and Arizona’s Sean Elliott along with longtime coaches Danny Miles of Oregon Tech and John Kresse of College of Charleston were also inducted during weekend festivities in Kansas City.
The class was announced earlier this year.
The festivities conclude with the Hall of Fame Classic, where Nebraska plays Missouri State and Texas Tech faces USC in Monday night’s semifinals. The third-place and championship games are Tuesday.
