SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A Salem woman has been charged with domestic assault and battery after she allegedly slapped her brother's girlfriend because she refused to steal prescription drugs from the pharmacy where she works.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Amanda Hadley approached the alleged victim in the home they all share.

The prosecutor says Hadley demanded that the woman use her access to the pharmacy to steal the prescription drugs Suboxone, a synthetic opiate used to treat heroin addiction, and Klonopin, an anti-anxiety drug.

When the woman said "no way," a fight ensued and Hadley allegedly slapped the victim.

The Salem News ( ) reports that Hadley's lawyer said the incident caused no significant injury. A judge set bail at $300. Hadley is awaiting trial in an unrelated drug case.
