The most likely grocery items to forget for Thanksgiving
We’ve all done it ... gotten home from the grocery with a crazy number of bags full of food and suddenly realized we forgot to buy something critical.
Meijer, the regional grocery chain, knows from looking at its Thanksgiving Day sales what items are most often forgotten by shoppers.
In reverse order, they are:
5. Sweet potatoes : for casseroles and candied preparations;
4. Butter : for darn-near everything;
3. Celery : for stuffing and relish trays;
2. Cream of mushroom soup -- for green bean casserole and gravies;
And the No. 1 last-minute purchase: Cream cheese -- for cheese balls, fancy mashed potatoes and desserts.
So, there you have it!
If you’re doing your big grocery run today or Wednesday, be sure you’ve stocked up on these items.
And Happy Thanksgiving!
