More than 40 arrested in crackdown on child exploitation
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana’s attorney general says more than 40 people were arrested over two months in a crackdown on internet crimes against children.
The arrests in “Operation Broken Heart” were revealed in Baton Rouge on Monday.
The annual operation seeks to identify those who make, possess and distribute child pornography. It also targets those who entice children online.
More than 4,500 law enforcement agencies were involved in this year’s operation, which took place between April 1 and May 31.
Attorney General Jeff Landry says parents and guardians should stay vigilant. He says children shouldn’t share personal information online or assume someone is who they say they are until they’ve met them in person.
