State of Alaska hold music features Portugal. The Man

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Forget the sleepy hold music you know and hate. Soon, when someone at the state of Alaska puts you on hold, you’re going to hear a little homegrown rock courtesy of the Grammy-award winning band Portugal. The Man.

The state announced its current hold music will be replaced by year’s end with a rotation of five songs, including “Feel It Still” by the band that got its start in Wasilla.

Portugal. The Man donated use of the song, but the state still had to get a professional license to play the five songs.

The Juneau Empire reports the other four songs with Alaska ties in the rotation include “Flicker of Light” by Whiskey Class, “Mother Carries” by Harm, “Bluebird” by Feeding Frenzy and “Shaax’ Sáani” by the Native Jazz Quartet.
