North Spring Street is back open following construction
North Spring Street is ready for traffic.
The road is due to open today on schedule following construction that began in May. The street is wider with new bike lanes in either direction and a center turn lane. There is new pavement and sidewalks, curbs, markings, lighting and signage as well.
Advance Construction of Green Bay was awarded the contract for the work by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the $1.5 million project, which was funded through a state grant, city utilities for underground portions and the city’s capital project borrowing.
Businesses and other locations that were will be along the construction path included Blue Boy, Boost Mobile, the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre, and the library. They can now be accessed more easily again.
Local officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning to celebrate the occasion.
