Fairfield Museum hosts annual free Memorial Day Picnic
Following Fairfield’s Memorial Day town parade on Monday, May 27, the Fairfield Museum will be hosting a free afternoon of games and fun at its annual Memorial Day Picnic on Monday, May 27, from noon to 3 p.m.
Bring a picnic to the grounds, at 370 Beach Road, and enjoy a bounce house courtesy of the Fairfield YMCA, music from local singer/songwriter Billy Ruegger, and activities like a three-legged race and a watermelon-eating contest.
Admission to the museum is free all day on Memorial Day, too, so visitors can view all of the current exhibitions including “Make Your Mark, Creating Community,” and the new “Black Rock: 375” show, that will open on Thursday, May 23.

Also on Memorial Day weekend, to remember and celebrate the men and women who have served, the museum is hosting a Yoga Benefit Class for the Veterans Yoga Project. The class will be held at the museum Saturday, May 25, from 8 a.m to 9:30 a.m. No prior experience is required and all levels are welcome. Practice will conclude with a candle lighting ceremony in honor and remembrance of service members. Bring a yoga mat or a towel. All funds raised will directly support Veterans Yoga Project in their mission of supporting veterans, families, and communities. Reservations are not required, but suggested at https://veteransyogaproject.z2systems.com/np/clients/veteransyogaproject/event.jsp?event=867&
The Fairfield Museum is a part of the Blue Star Museums program, which provides free admission for active-duty military and their immediate family members from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
