Nebraska volleyball top seed in National Tournament while Creighton enters dance as well
Defending national champion Nebraska is the top seed for the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament and will host New Hampshire on Friday night. The 64-team tournament field was announced yesterday. The winner between 27-2 Nebraska and 21-10 New Hampshire plays Saturday in Lincoln against 24-7 Wichita State or 14-12 TCU. Nebraska is in the tournament for the 35th consecutive year. Creighton, who is 26-6, is in the field for the fifth straight year, and will open against 24-9 Northern Iowa on Thursday in Lawrence, Kansas. The winner of that match plays host 26-2 Kansas or 21-13 Samford on Friday. Teams winning both matches will move to regional play Dec. 9-10 at sites to be determined after play concludes Saturday. The national semifinals and final are Dec. 15 and 17 in Columbus, Ohio. In other Husker volleyball news, assistant coach Dani Busboom Kelly was introduced as the new head coach at the University of Louisville yesterday. She will finish the season with the Huskers before beginning her stint at Louisville. Nebraska head coach John Cook will conduct a national search to fill the open position after the season.
