Claymores 24, Galaxy 7
EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) _ Siran Stacy, the World League’s all-time leading rusher, scored two touchdowns as the Scottish Claymores stayed in contention for a place in the World Bowl with a 24-7 victory over Frankfurt Galaxy Sunday.
Stacy’s runs of 5- and 6- yards in the second half put the Claymores, who led just 3-0 at the half, into a 24-0 lead before Galaxy replied with a late TD. Quarterback Spence Fisher had a 1-yard sneak for a score.
The Scottish team now is tied with Rhein Fire at 5-3 for a place in the June 22 World Bowl against Barcelona Dragons, who have home advantage after topping the standings in the first half of the season.
Karl Gronos’ 44-yard field goal was the only score of the first half, giving the Claymores a 3-0 halftime lead.
Frankfurt’s consolation score was a 49-yard TD pass from Chad May to Jason Shelley with 4:51 to play.
