Brunswick water polo beats Greenwich
Behind two goals apiece from Thacher Scannell and Keegan Drew, Brunswick School recorded a 6-3 win over neighborhood water polo rival Greenwich High School Friday evening at Mehra Natatorium.
The victory raised the Bruins’ record to 18-2 overall, including a 2-0 mark against the Cardinals this season. Brunswick posted a 7-5 win over Greenwich earlier this month.
The Bruins held a 2-0 lead after the first quarter and a 4-1 advantage at halftime. Adding a goal in the third quarter, Brunswick took a 5-1 lead into the final quarter. Trailing 6-1, visiting Greenwich tallied a pair of goals late in the game to close to within 6-3.
Simon Derby had one goal and five steals, while Kyle Yelensky had one goal and Nico Apostolides added three steals for Brunswick. Scannell also flourished defensively, securing a team-high six steals.
Christian Hartch made eight saves in goal for the Bruins, who host Hopkins School on Wednesday.
