Missing Texas reporter found safe; reaction to medication blamed

HOUSTON, Texas — A bad reaction to medication caused a sports reporter to become disoriented, leading to her being reported missing over the weekend.

Courtney Roland, 29, was found Monday morning underneath a highway overpass, the Houston Chronicle reports. A passerby called police when he recognized Roland.

Roland was found by officers and taken to a hospital and was suffering memory loss, according to the Associated Press.

“When our people were talking with her she seemed pretty confused about everything,” police Lt. Manuel Cruz Jr. tells the AP.

Family members reported Roland missing after she texted her roommate early Sunday morning that she believed she was being followed by a suspicious male, then failed to show for a planned meeting with the roommate.

Roland’s mother also said she received a confusing text from her daughter’s phone.

Police tell the Chronicle that Roland’s vehicle, along with her phone and other items, was found in the parking lot of a nearby mall and that her purse was found at a business.

“We do not suspect any foul play or any kind of suspicious activity attached to this incident,” Cruz tells the AP.

Roland is a reporter for a website that covers Texas A&M sports.
