GreenJackets and City of N.A. announce parking plans for SRP Park
Those planning to go to one of the first few games at SRP Park, the new Augusta GreenJackets stadium located in Riverside Village in North Augusta, have a few options to choose from for parking.
The Augusta GreenJackets, along with the City of North Augusta, have announced parking fees and locations for games at the ballpark, the first being in less than two weeks.
Parking for the first game between North Augusta High School and Greenbrier High School on April 9 will be free, according to a press release. Both the University of Georgia versus Clemson University and the inaugural GreenJackets game will have parking for $5, it states.
The release says there are nearly 1,100 on-site parking spaces at the Riverside Village Parking Deck on Railroad Avenue, the Medac parking deck on Center Street and in the North Augusta municipal building parking lot at 100 Georgia Avenue.
Parking for the Riverside Village parking deck will be directed from East Buena Vista to Riverside Boulevard to Railroad Avenue, according to the release.
Parking for the Medac parking deck will be via West Clifton/West Buena Vista to West Avenue to Bluff Avenue, it says.
Parking at the municipal building lot will be via the Georgia Avenue entrance.
“Parking directional signage will be posted throughout downtown North Augusta, and traffic at key places will be monitored by Public Safety,” the release says.
“A great deal of thought and work have gone into this plan. We know that we have not thought of everything and that there may be a few hiccups, but we will learn from each event to make this as smooth as possible,” said North Augusta City Administrator Todd Glover in the release.
Paid parking will also be available at First Baptist Church and Grace United Methodist Church, as well as the Augusta Convention Center parking deck for $5. Shuttle services will be available from the churches and the Augusta Convention Center parking deck.
Lyft, Uber and taxi pick-up and drop-off locations will also be on Railroad Avenue near the entrance, the release states.
The release also encourages fans to purchase parking in advance for the games, as they will likely sell out in advance of the events.
“With this being the first week of events, the systems and processes we have been working on will be tested, and we encourage folks to have patience and arrive early. We are sure it won’t be perfect, but we will get this down to a science and may take a handful of games to minimize traffic congestion and get folks accustomed,” said Jeff Eiseman, President and Partner of the Augusta GreenJackets in the release.
North Augusta High School and Greenbrier High School will play each other in the first game at SRP Park on April 9; University of Georgia and Clemson University will play at SRP Park on April 10; and the inaugural GreenJackets game at SRP Park will be against the Lexington Legends on April 12.
Updates on parking availability and changes will be available at greenjacketsbaseball.com/parking starting April 10.
