Windber magistrate reports: Feb. 21
The following preliminary hearings are scheduled before District Judge Bill Seger in Windber:
Driving under the influence
State police have charged 42-year-old Jeremy W. O’Roark, of Windber, with driving under the influence, failure to drive at a safe speed and careless driving. O’Roark, who lives along Clear Shade Drive, crashed his snowmobile along Mount Carmel Drive at approximately 7:15 p.m. Feb. 2. According to the report filed Feb. 8, O’Roark failed field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was 0.108 percent. A preliminary hearing is set for 11:30 a.m. March 13.Windber Borough police have charged 25-year-old Priscilla Louise Ryman, of Robin Drive in Salix, with driving under the influence, failure to stop at a stop sign and careless driving. In a affidavit filed Feb. 11, police said Ryman was pulled over after nearly colliding with a police cruiser at approximately 12:59 a.m. Feb. 10. She smelled of alcohol, failed field sobriety tests and was taken to the hospital in Windber, where her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.104 percent. Her preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. March 13.Windber Borough police have charged 24-year-old McKayla Anne Becker, of Dark Shade Drive in Windber, with driving under the influence and failure to meet general lighting requirements. In an affidavit filed Feb. 9, police said that Becker was pulled over early that morning for driving with a malfunctioning headlight. She smelled of alcohol, admitted to drinking and was taken to the hospital in Windber, where her blood alcohol content was found to be 0.138 percent. Becker’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:45 a.m. March 13.
Windber Borough police have charged 27-year-old Kaashif Sadiyg Gantt, of Burkhard Street in Johnstown, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. In an affidavit filed Feb. 5, police said Gantt was pulled over for driving erratically at approximately 1:58 a.m. Feb. 2. Baggies of marijuana, marijuana seeds and objects used for smoking marijuana were found in his vehicle. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. March 13.Windber Borough police have charged 23-year-old Cody Harrison, of Hilltop Street in Mineral Point, with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. In an affidavit filed Feb. 10, police said Harrison was pulled over early that morning. He smelled of marijuana, and police found a bong in his vehicle as well as a marijuana pipe, a silver grinder and baggies. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. March 13.
Endangering the welfare of children
Windber Borough police have charged 33-year-old Bradley Joshua Weakland, of Somerset Avenue in Windber, with endangering the welfare of children, simple assault and harassment. During a dispute with a woman who was holding a 2-year-old child, Weakland grabbed the child’s arm, causing him to fall and injure his lower lip, according to police. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 along Somerset Avenue, and Weakland attempted to flee into the basement of the home when police arrived. His preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. April 10.
