Tropical Storm Hurricane begins move into Lowcountry

A tornado watch was issued at 6 a.m. for the southern tier coastal counties of Beaufort, Jasper and Hampton as the stronger winds of now Tropical Storm Hermine began to blow in the Lowcountry. The storm was centered less than 200 miles from Charleston moving past Valdosta, Ga.

The National Weather Service, Charleston, dialed back the estimate of the blasts expected here, to sustained winds from 30 to 40 mph and gusts to 55 mph. The gusts could be strong enough to cause damage.
