Jill Lewis retires from Florence-Darlington Technical College

FLORENCE, S.C. – Jill Lewis has retired from Florence-Darlington Technical College after 10 years of working at the college.

Lewis was the vice president of institutional advancement and executive director of the Educational Foundation.

Edward Bethea, acting president for Florence-Darlington Technical College, said Lewis retired last week.

Lauren Dorton has been promoted at FDTC to serve as interim director of institutional advancement and interim executive director of the FDTC Educational Foundation.

Mike Reichenbach, a member of the Educational Foundation board of directors, said Lewis was one of the first people he met when he moved to Florence 10 years ago.

“She’s incredibly welcoming to newcomers,” Reichenbach said.

He said Lewis was passionate about the college’s mission, and that passion was infectious.

“Even way back then, I made the decision that I wanted to be a part of Tech and a part of what Jill was doing,” Reichenbach said.

Getting an education helps provide employment opportunities and a subsequent opportunity to provide for a future, Reichenbach said. FDTC helps those in the Pee Dee achieve that end, he added.
