Report: Shooting investigation recovers drugs, stolen handgun
An investigation into a recent shooting turned up more than officers were looking for, authorities said today.
Members of the crimes against persons unit of the Rochester Police Department executed a search warrant about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at 402 31st St. NE, No. 301, “looking for electronic evidence in connection to a recent shooting,” said Capt. John Sherwin.
Inside, they also spotted drugs and a handgun, the report says, so the warrant was amended to retrieve those items as well.
Officers found nearly 50 grams of cocaine, Sherwin said; the handgun — though apparently not connected with the shooting — was reported stolen out of North Dakota.
Iman Abucar Hagi Iman, 24, was arrested at the scene. He could be charged with second-degree drug sales and third-degree drug possession.
