Beaver Dam school honors first responders
The student council of Beaver Dam Lincoln Elementary School wanted to share with local first responders how much they are appreciated, so they had the entire school bring items that were given out on Friday.
Representatives from Beaver Dam Police Department, Beaver Dam Fire and EMS and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office were in attendance during an assembly at the school on Friday.
Student council member Leela Gabathuler came up with the idea for show of support.
“We had donated to the Humane Society in the past, and I thought this would be a good idea,” Gabathuler said.
Student council member Jeremiah Gresbach said the council began planning to honor the men and women in law enforcement and the fire department in the middle of the first semester. Announcements were made for each class to bring in different things. The items were boxed up for each of the three departments and given out during an assembly attended by the entire student body.
“It’s great to do these little acts of kindness,” Gresbach said. “A lot of my family members are first responders.”
