HUNTINGTON - The Spring Valley High School Interact Club inducted a record 43 new members, recognized its graduating seniors and installed new officers for the 2018-2019 school year April 26.

Club officers for 2017-18 oversaw the inductions. This year’s officers were Evan Gissel, president; Hayden Wright, vice president; Maddie Rood, secretary; and Harley Cooper, treasurer.

New members and officers each were given a membership pin, and members formed a circle in the auditorium as they were installed, signifying the local, national and international interaction of the thousands of Interact members throughout the world. New officers for the 2018-19 school year will be Harley Cooper, president; Maddie Rood, vice president; Rebecca Hysell, secretary; Elian Ventura, treasurer; and Tatum Smith, parliamentarian. The new officers were installed by the present officers in their respective positions.

Interact clubs seek to bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Interact clubs are affiliated with Rotary Club.

The SVHS Interact Club is sponsored by the Ceredo-Kenova Rotary Club. LyRhonda Ventura is the faculty adviser, and under her leadership the club has grown exponentially.

Ventura’s dedication and leadership were recognized by the Ceredo-Kenova Club, and she was presented an Honorary Membership in the Ceredo-Kenova Rotary Club.
