Eagles beat Big Foot in overtime

JEFFERSON — The Jefferson girls basketball team scored eight unanswered points in overtime to earn a 41-33 home victory over Walworth Big Foot on Thursday night.

Olivia Ganser hit a 3-pointer in overtime to finish with 19 points, and Ainsley Howard and Josie Peterson combined to go five-of-six shooting from the free-throw line to close out the game.

Neither team was able to get a strong offensive performance, but Ganser got going late in the first half for nine points to counter the Chiefs’ Reagan Courier, who finished with a team-high 15 points.

Jefferson (7-8, 5-7 RVC) outscored Big Foot (8-7, 7-5) 18-14 in the second half.

Ainsley Howard added eight points and Peterson scored six for the Eagles.

Both Rachael Neitzel and Claire Beck scored four points for the Eagles.

Jefferson will continue RVC play on Monday when it travels to Brodhead for a 7:15 p.m. tip.
