Murante says Nebraska needs a true conservative leader
NORFOLK - Senator John Murante of Gretna stopped by Norfolk Friday as part of his campaign tour for his run for State Treasurer.
Murante wants to replace State Treasurer Don Stenberg, who is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.
Murante tells News Talk WJAG Nebraska needs a true conservative republican leader.
He says millions of dollars can either be saved or squandered, depending upon who is state treasurer.
Murante was first elected to the Legislature in 2012, and introduced legislation last month on voter identification.
“Elections are very important and sanctity of our elections is something that I have spent a long time working on. The elimination of and identification of voter fraud, making sure that every vote counts, and that not a single illegal vote is cast in the state of Nebraska is something that I have fought for and will continue fighting for” Murante said.
He says 97-percent of Nebraska’s registered voters have a driver’s license.
Murante is being challenged by Taylor Royal of Omaha.
