Deutsch Institute Plans Chef’s Delight Champagne Celebrity Brunch

This week, Laura Rysz talks with Alex J. Hazzouri about the upcoming Chef’s Delight Champagne Celebrity Brunch , which raises money for the Deutsch Institute.

Q: Tell us about the Deutsch Institute.

A: The Deutsch Institute was founded in 1979. The Deutsch Institute is dedicated to developing and expanding leisure and recreational activities for persons with disabilities by enhancing an individual’s holistic quality of life through social and recreational programs. The Deutsch Institute offers programs throughout Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne and Luzerne counties.


Q: How many years has this fundraiser been a tradition?

A: The Deutsch Institute has been hosting the annual celebrity brunch for over 25 years, and I believe I have not missed more than two.


Q: What was the inspiration behind having a Champagne celebrity brunch?

A: The Deutsch Institute created the Champagne Celebrity Brunch to raise money and make the community aware of its work by involving well-known members of the community, our “celebrity servers.”


Q: What will be served during brunch?

A: The menu for the brunch includes Champagne, various juices, coffee, tea, white and chocolate milk, scrambled eggs, western omelets, O’Brien potatoes, bacon, sausage, rolls and fruit along with a variety of desserts, cakes and pies.


Q: What will be on hand for entertainment?

A: Entertainment during the Chef’s Delight Champagne Celebrity Brunch will consist of music by the Ferdie Bistocchi Memorial Band, basket raffles, 50/50 and our celebrity servers.


Q: How will proceeds be used?

A: The proceeds will be utilized to fund recreational and leisure programs and activities, such as social clubs, bingo, arts and crafts, bus trips, music, dances and holiday parties for persons with disabilities throughout Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Luzerne counties.

Details: Tickets cost $25 for adults, $22 for Deutsch members and $10 for children 6 to 12 and are free for children under 5. They are available by calling the Deutsch Institute at 570-348-1968 and at the door.
