University of Georgia student wounded in bus stop shooting
ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — A 22-year-old University of Georgia student has been hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being shot at a bus stop near campus. Police say they are searching for the shooter.
Athens-Clarke County Police spokesman Geoffrey Gilland tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the student’s injuries from the Monday morning shooting are life-threatening. His former high school lacrosse team in Milton, Georgia, identified him as Tate Prezzano, who is a junior at the University of Georgia.
WAGA-TV reports that while officers were responding to the shooting, they received a report of a second student being robbed at gunpoint at an apartment complex near the bus stop. Investigators believe both incidents are connected.
