Bus driver charged with raping girl
BRIDGEPORT - A 39-year-old school bus driver was being held in lieu of $200,000 bond after he was charged Monday with raping a 5-year-old girl.
Ricardo Julien, of Higgins Avenue, was charged with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.
“The facts of this case are extremely disturbing,” Assistant State’s Attorney Tatiana Messina told Superior Court Judge William Holden as Julien stood nearby, showing no emotion.
Police said the victim’s mother called police and then went to Julien’s home to confront him with the girl’s allegations. Julien is a friend of the family.
The victim was then taken to the hospital, police said.
Police said the girl subsequently told them that Julien had picked her up at a friend’s house and then driven her to his home. Once there he raped the girl in his car, police said. He then drove her home.
The girl told investigators that Julien had sexually assaulted her before at her home, police said.
Police said Julien is a bus driver for Dattco and picks up children in Trumbull. They said when they contacted him about the girl’s allegations he told them he was very stressed and is no longer able to work.
