Matt Schulte explains why you should vote for him
We asked each of the five Lancaster County treasurer candidates why voters should support them and what changes they would make to the office, if elected.
Here’s what Republican candidate Matt Schulte, 38, executive director of Campus Life and current member of the Lincoln Board of Education, had to say:
Schulte says he brings his experience in turning around Campus Life, which had quite a bit of debt and had lost a lot of staff, to the job of county treasurer.
He also started a small business that does bookkeeping and accounting for other small nonprofits.
Schulte says he would implement a kiosk system in smaller rural communities so people could pay for vehicle registration and property taxes.
He would also rethink the current physical treasurer offices, all within a seven-minute drive of each other, to determine what might be the best office locations.
Schulte says he would also create a shopping cart for the treasurer’s online system that would allow people to do multiple transactions with one payment.
Schulte says his track record, both at his job with Campus Life and his service on the school board, show he can be trusted to do the job well and to handle the finances appropriately.
