Norwalk Police: Beware of phishing phone scam

January 21, 2018 GMT

NORWALK — A city police sergeant warned residents of a phishing phone scam Saturday evening.

Sgt. Sofia Gulino said several individuals have received calls from people that claim to be the Blue Cross Blue Shield trying to verify information. Gulino said the calls are coming from 289-800-0303.

If residents get that call, they should “hang up,” Gulino said.

She said the best way to ensure the call was just a scam is to call the company directly by the number listed on the back of the Blue Cross Blue Shield card.
