Brunswick swim team tops Loomis Chaffee
Cole Pierce and Marcus Hodgson each won two individual events for the Brunswick School swimming team in its 94-89 road win over a formidable Loomis Chaffee team in a meet held on Wednesday.
The win raised the Bruins’ record to 3-0. The Bruins’ 200-meter medley relay team of Pierce, Jack Sparks, Hodgson and Keegan Drew started the meet by posting a first-place finish in 1:51.
Thacher Scannell followed by winning the 200 freestyle for Brunswick in 1:58.67. Pierce touched the wall first in the 200 individual medley (2:18.37) and Hodgson won the 50 freestyle in 23.70 for the Bruins, who held a 37-25 lead after four events.
Drew was the 100 freestyle winner (53.29), while Pierce topped the competition in the 400 freestyle (4:15.28). Hodgson, Drew, Nico Apostolides and Scannell registered a winning time of 1:39.49 in the 200 freestyle relay for Brunswick, which led 75-62 after the event.
Alex Morgan of Brunswick took the top spot in the 100 backstroke (1:04.90).
