Weather Scrubs Colorado National Guard Helicopter Fire-suppression Training in Boulder County
A training planned for the Colorado Army National Guard on Friday has been canceled due to weather, but will continue over the weekend, according to a news release.
The National Guard, along with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, the U.S. Forest Service and several local emergency response agencies were scheduled to practice helicopter bucket drops out of Ralph Price Reservoir at Button Rock Preserve starting Friday morning.
Residents were also advised to expect helicopters near Gross Reservoir in Boulder County and Vance Brand Airport in Longmont.
Friday’s training was canceled due to heavily clouded skies, said Caley Fisher, public affairs officer for the Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
The training, which is meant to improve coordination among the agencies and fire suppression skills, will continue on Saturday and Sunday.
Residents can expect to see helicopters in the same areas over the weekend.
