Dortch named ACC Rookie of the Week

October 3, 2017 GMT

Wake Forest redshirt freshman receiver Greg Dortch was named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Rookie of the Week on Monday for his performance against Florida State.

Dortch recorded season-high totals of 10 catches, 110 yards and 196 all-purpose yards against the Seminoles. His all-purpose yards total was the most for a Wake Forest player since Michael Campanaro had 196 against Army in 2012.

Dortch, a 5-foot-9, 165-pounder from Richmond, Va., leads the Deacons with 30 catches, 352 yards and five touchdowns. Saturday’s game was the first that Dortch didn’t score a touchdown. He has more than twice as many catches as the next-closest player (Tabari Hines, 12 catches). Dortch also has 132 yards on 13 punt returns, his average of 10.2 yards per return ranking fifth in the ACC.

Other ACC Players of the Week were Pittsburgh quarterback Max Browne (Offensive Back of the Week), Georgia Tech center Kenny Cooper (offensive line), Syracuse receiver Ervin Philips (receiver), North Carolina State defensive end Bradley Chubb (defensive line), Clemson linebacker Dorian O’Daniel (linebacker), Georgia Tech safety A.J. Gray (defensive back) and Florida State kicker Ricky Aguayo (specialist).
