Train derails in Columbus
Yes Columbus, there was indeed a train off the tracks on Monday afternoon near downtown.
About 3:15 p.m., six rail cars of a Union Pacific train derailed on the east side of the company’s yard in Columbus, according to UP Media Relations Director Kristen South.
“Four of them went on their side and two just had the wheels come off,” South told The Columbus Telegram. “There were no spills, no injuries.”
The incident initially caused some traffic in the nearby area for a bit, however, seemed to have subsided before long. Workers were still on scene as of 6:45 p.m. getting things cleaned up.
The cause of the derailment wasn’t known, South said, adding an investigation was set to take place.
