Sinkholes on Florida Turnpike fixed
MIAMI (AP) — Two sinkholes and a water pipe break that brought traffic to a standstill on the Turnpike in Miami-Dade County have been repaired and all southbound lanes are open, according to a report.
The South Florida Sun-Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2bPqiSh ) reported on Sunday that the Florida Department of Transportation said all lanes are open again after crews worked around the clock to do an emergency repair on the water pipes and the sinkholes.
The water pipe break caused the two sinkholes in the roadway just north of Northwest 199th Street on Saturday, forcing the closure of two lanes and two exits that backed up traffic on the Turnpike for miles.
Crews from both Miami-Dade County and the Turnpike worked overnight to make the repairs, the report says.
