Buffalo County seeks Clean Sweep grant
The Buffalo County Recycling Program applied for a $26,000 grant through the state Dept. of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection to fund 75 percent cost of hosting a Clean Sweep collection in 2018.
The project aims to collect household and agricultural hazardous chemicals and pharmaceutical waste for proper disposal.
The Buffalo County Board authorized the county’s recycling committee to budget $6,488 to meet a 25 percent grant cost-sharing responsibility and agreed to pay up to $5,000 beyond that amount if necessary.
Budgeted money for the county’s share of a Clean Sweep project was taken from the county’s recycling program fund account.
Times of a Clean Sweep project would be announced in 2018 if a state grant is approved.
