Archbald Teen Accused Of Sexually Assaulting A 14-year-old Girl Waives Preliminary Hearing

August 22, 2018

SCRANTON — An Archbald man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl last month waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in Central Court. Conor McCall, 18, 207 Skyline Drive, faces charges of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault of a person less than 16 years old stemming from two incidents, including one where McCall is accused of having sex with the girl, Archbald police said. The girl and her parents went to the borough police station July 3, to report she was sexually assaulted. The Times-Tribune does not identify victims of sexual assault. McCall appeared in court Wednesday with his attorney, Robert Munley, of Peckville. The victim’s family sat in the courtroom as well. The girl, who is friends with McCall’s sister, told investigators that while she was staying overnight at their home, McCall used the social media app Snapchat to ask her to come to his bedroom. In his bedroom, McCall pulled the girl into his bed, told her to be quiet and put his hand over her mouth after he started to have sex with her, according to court documents. The following day, McCall gave her a pill and told her to take it so she wouldn’t get pregnant, adding “that can never happen again,” according to court documents. The girl also told investigators about an incident in June, when McCall kissed her and touched her inappropriately. McCall told investigators that he knew the girl was 14, that they had been talking for some time, and corroborated what she said about the June incident, according to court documents. He also told investigators he messaged her while she was at his home about going to his room and having sex and said he thought she wanted to have sex because she went to his bedroom and didn’t respond with “no.” He also acknowledged that he bought her a Plan B pill, according to police. McCall, a two-time Times-Tribune All-Region swimmer while he was at Scranton Prep, remains free on $100,000 unsecured bail. His trial date has not been set yet.
