Daughter accuses father of molesting
A local man has been accused of sexually abusing his daughter, starting when she had just turned 11.
The girl had lived with her father since she was 4 years old, according to court documents. The abuse took place from July 2015 to October 2016 when the girl confided in her aunt.
Saying she was home alone and scared, the girl had called her aunt and relatives to come pick her up. In reality, her father had called her and told her he was coming home and expected to perform a sex act on her, court records said.
When the aunt drove near the girl’s home, she saw the girl running down the street, so she stopped there to pick her up.
“Go!,” the girl yelled at her aunt. “He’s going to get me!” She then pulled into a parking lot and asked the girl what was wrong, court records said.
Before that, the girl had told her stepmother about the abuse and her stepmother called the police, documents said. The girl said that her father told her to lie when the police came and to say he didn’t do anything. To get her to lie about it, he threatened to send her to Michigan and put her into foster care after he beat her.
The father denied all the charges and made excuses for why they could not be true, court records said.
He was charged Friday with two counts of child molesting and one count of incest. He faces a bond of $45,000, and there is a warrant for his arrest.
The Journal Gazette is not naming the man in order to conceal the identity of his victim. The newspaper does not name victims of sex offenses without their permission.
