Badgers interested in graduate transfer from Samford
The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball program has one scholarship remaining for next season and the Badgers are interested in Wyatt Walker, a graduate transfer from Samford.
Walker, a 6-foot-9 center, is scheduled to graduate this spring. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining and would be immediately able to play in 2018-19.
Adding an experienced big man who could help next season and in 2019-20, when UW’s frontcourt will be in the process of replacing multiple players, would be appealing to coach Greg Gard and his staff.
Walker, who is expected to visit the UW campus late next week, started 63 games during his first two seasons at Samford, which is located in Alabama and competes in the Southern Conference. He recorded 17 double-doubles as a sophomore in 2016-17, averaging 12.9 points and 9.7 rebounds, but missed all but two games last season with a leg injury.
