Tolsia trounces Royals, moves to 1-0
ASHLAND, Ky. — The Tolsia Rebel boys basketball team picked up a 78-32, season opening win over the Rose Hill Royals on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at Rose Hill Christian School in Ashland, Kentucky.
From the opening tip it was clear Tolsia had the ability to shoot the long ball as three different players logged three-pointers in the first ninety second of the game. The fast-paced offense led also created several opportunities for the Rebel defense to make a statement.
“We challenged our guys before the game on defense. We know we can score points, we’ve got a good group of offensive guys, but we challenged our guys in three categories. Defense, turnovers, and rebounds. If we win those we can win the game.”
Tolsia held a 25-9 advantage after the first quarter and went into halftime leading 43-19. After the break, Tolsia ramped up the scoring in the third quarter, outscoring the Royals by 18 points and blowing the game wide open.
“Win the quarter, win the game. After the first quarter we had 25 we told them to put it in the rear-view and go win the next quarter,” Rebels coach Todd Maynard said after the win. “I think when you have good defensive energy and intensity you’ll make it up on the offensive end. I’m proud of my guys and the way they ran the floor.”
