October 10, 2018 GMT

Police are searching for a man who reportedly carjacked a woman at gunpoint in Boulder before crashing the vehicle in Longmont and fleeing on foot.

Boulder police spokeswoman Shannon Aulabaugh said a woman was walking to her parked car just before noon today at the 29th Street Mall when she saw an unknown man in her car.

The man in the vehicle pointed a gun at the woman when he saw her before driving off.

The vehicle was found after being crashed in Longmont near Ninth Avenue and Hover Street, and Longmont police Deputy Chief Jeff Satur said the suspect went north and jumped a fence into the Hover Ridge neighborhood.

Satur said police have set up a perimeter in the area stretching from Ninth and 10th avenues to Hover and Spencer streets, with armed law enforcement officers at every side of the perimeter.

Longmont High School, 1040 Sunset St., has been placed on lockout, while Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Ave., is on lockdown.
