Stamford police still seek armed robber

September 7, 2018 GMT

STAMFORD — City police are still looking for the man who robbed a West Side convenience store last month.

Police said they have not been able to identify the suspect even after releasing video footage last week from the Mi Tierra Mini Mart on Smith Street of a man wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt who robbed the clerk at gunpoint on Aug. 14.

The video shows the man pulling a gun from his pocket as he demands money. The footage released to the public last week then jumps ahead as another man walks into the store and the robber leaves with only a small amount of cash, Lt. Tom Barcello said.

The man then fled in a white four-door car.

“We have exhausted our internal resources without success in identifying this man, so we are turning to the public again to assist us to close the case on this heinous crime,” Barcello said Friday.

Barcello said it was difficult obtaining a description of the man from the video because his sweatshirt was tied close to his face. Barcello estimated the man to be in his mid to late 20s, weighing about 180 pounds and about 6-feet tall.
