JetBlue begins Albany-Florida flights

December 11, 2015

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — JetBlue Airways has begun daily service between Albany International Airport and two Florida destinations.

The company said non-stop service to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando began Thursday.

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer hailed the new flights on Thursday, saying they will boost competition at the Albany airport and lead to more options for travelers.

JetBlue already services Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Newburgh, Westchester and both New York City airports.

To mark the new flights, JetBlue offered limited one-way promotional fares of $16.86 — a figure picked to honor Albany’s incorporation in 1686.
