Police arrest man suspected of stealing $7K in gaming chips

November 9, 2018

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Louisiana State police say they have arrested a man suspected of stealing $7,000 in gaming chips at a casino.

Police tell news outlets a man later identified as 33-year-old Eldridge Brown grabbed the chips from a gaming table Sunday, ran out of the New Orleans area casino and fled in a car.

Police said in a statement they found they spotted Brown on Thursday. Police say Brown refused to stop and started a pursuit, but the vehicle eventually became disabled in a muddy area. The release says Brown and a 31-year-old female passenger, Marquise Alexander, were arrested.

Brown was charged with felony theft and other offenses and Alexander was booked on an outstanding warrant from Jefferson Parish, the statement says. It’s unclear if the two have lawyers who could comment.
