Yale’s Ben Reeves, BC’s Sam Apuzzo win Tewaaraton Award
WASHINGTON (AP) — Yale captain Ben Reeves and junior attack Sam Apuzzo of Boston College have won the Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the most outstanding male and female college lacrosse players in the nation.
Reeves closed his college career with one goal and three assists in a 13-11 victory over Duke on Monday for the national championship. He finished the season with 62 goals and 53 assists for 115 points and owns the school’s career records for goals (174) and points (316).
Apuzzo, one of five finalists for the second straight year, led BC to an undefeated regular season (17-0) and the program’s seventh appearance in the NCAA Tournament. She led the team in goals (88), assists (41), points (129), draw controls (163), forced turnovers (31) and game-winning goals (9).
The ceremony was held Thursday night at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian.
