Wrong-way crash kills 1 on CT highway
State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver on Route 9 in Essex on Monday.
The crash occurred at around 5:30 p.m. between Exits 3 and 4, state police said. At least person died, dispatchers from Troop F confirmed Tuesday morning. Troopers have not yet released full details of the crash.
The accident was caused by a wrong-way driver, according to WFSB.
The roadway was shut down for hours as state police investigated.
It reopened at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, state Department of Transportation officials said.
The identity of the person killed has not been released.
