Police: Concord Man Clocked Driving 109 Mph on N.H. Highway
GREENLAND, N.H. -- A Concord, Mass., man is facing a series of charges after police said he was clocked driving his 2005 Porsche Boxster at 109 mph on Interstate 95 in the town of Greenland at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Clifford Bates, 53, is charged with reckless driving, operating after suspension and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, according to a press release issued by the New Hampshire State Police.
Bates’ vehicle was spotted driving 109 mph in a 65-mph speed zone by the state police’s Special Enforcement Unit that was monitoring traffic from the state police aircraft, the release states. Troopers on the ground were notified and Bates’ vehicle was stopped.
Bates told the trooper during the stop that he thought he was traveling 68 mph and was just trying to get home, according to the release.
Bates is due to appear in Portsmouth Circuit Court to answer to these charges at 8 a.m. Dec. 18.
