World Stunt Awards Show Taped

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Arnold Schwarzenegger, director John Woo and stuntman Hal Needham were recipients of Taurus Honorary Awards for their contributions to action films at the first-ever World Stunt Awards.

The awards were presented Sunday at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar.

Needham was honored for lifetime achievement. Schwarzenegger was honored as best-action movie star, and Woo as best-action director.

Winners for outstanding performances in 11 film categories, including best specialty stunt and best fight, also were announced. The World Stunt Academy chose the winners from films released in 2000.

Celebrity presenters included Burt Reynolds, Chuck Norris and James Cameron.

The two-hour show, with Alec Baldwin as host, is scheduled to air June 16 on ABC.
